A scientific, transparent, development-focused pathway that finds Sri Lanka's next javelin champions in schools, clubs and communities — and takes them all the way to the national squad.
Javelin throw demands a rare blend of speed, strength, coordination, flexibility and explosive power — yet Sri Lanka has never had a province-wide pathway built specifically for it. Javelin Fiesta changes that.
We combine physical literacy testing with full event-specific throwing assessment, giving every athlete — whether a proven thrower or a raw athletic talent — a fair, transparent route into the Provincial Development Squad.
Establish Central Province as a leading centre for javelin development, building future national and international champions.
Identify, assess and develop talented athletes through evidence-based detection and long-term development principles.
Messages from the Ministry's leadership, with more voices from partner institutions to be added as the programme grows.
"I know what it means to be a kid with a javelin and no clear path forward — I started this sport late, and every step forward came from someone giving me a chance to be seen. Javelin Fiesta is exactly that kind of chance, built for hundreds of young athletes across Sri Lanka. I'm proud to back a programme that could find the next thrower who goes even further than I have."
Central Province is the pilot. The full vision of Javelin Fiesta 2026 is a national talent identification and development movement — one consistent, scientific pathway from school grounds to the national team, in every province of Sri Lanka.
Selected athletes don't stop at selection — they enter a structured six-phase development journey with coaching, monitoring and competition built in.
Every athlete is assessed on both raw athletic quality and event-specific throwing ability — so talent can't slip through the cracks.

From U16 to Open, boys and girls, men and women — the pathway is built for every stage of an athlete's development.
